Well I Read That The Blood Line Has To Do Alot With The Aggression And Both Her Parents Are Very Aggressive Dogs. They Have Assholes For Owners... And Note Not My Friends... Assholes. Both Mom And Dad Has Been Faught And Are Winners And So Was The Grand Parents On Her Moms Side. I Know Shes A Strong Dog But Shes Very Playfull Which Is Good And She Loves Kids. She Would Sit Quiet In A Room Full Of Adults But As Soon As A Kid Walks In She Starts Waging And Jumping, Licking And Playing... Lol. I Try To Raise Her The Way I Do My Kids. I'll Do Every Thing I Can To Keep Her Out Of A Fight, Take Every Precaution And Even Part The Fight If I Must. However If Im Not There And There Is Nothing I Can Do... U Damn Righ I Want Her To Win.

In this breed, dog-aggression and human-aggression are two totally diffrent things. Because the dog is dog-aggressive in no way will equate to human-aggressive. In fact, usually dog-aggressiveness, and human-friendliness go hand in hand-they have to in a pit fight. Never trust ANY "pitbull" not to fight, its what they have been bred to do for hundreds of years...and in your dogs case right up until his parents. In this breed, dog-aggression should be as normal as a labrador retreiver chasing ducks!

It sounds like you will definetly have a dog-aggressive dog on your hands, which is only a problem if you make it out to be one. Most all of us on here deal with it daily, and its a minor inconveinance to owning the breed when you realize all the other great qualities that come with it, due to dog-aggression and pit-fighting.

Just understand that the day is going to come where your dog no longer "plays" with other dogs, and a fight could ensue at any moment. I suggest you buy (or make) a couple of breaking sticks, learn how to properly use them, and have them handly at ALL times. On walks, in your back pocket. Stash one by the front door, and the back door. If the dog will go on a chain later in life, keep one by the chainspace incase a stray wanders in so you can humanely break the fight and let the other dog run away.

Best of luck, and congrats on the pup-shes a real looker!

THANKS ALOT 14ROCK... I ACCTUALLY MADE A BREAKSTICK ALREADY... EVERYONE WAS LIKE " U DONT NEED THAT YET SHES JUST A PUP" BUT I WENT AHEAD AND DID IT. I GOT THE IDEA FROM THIS SITE. I CAN'T REMEBER WHO IT WAS BUT SOMEONE WAS ASKING WHERE TO BY A BREAKSTICK AND SOME ONE ELSE SUGGESTED MAKING ONE OUT OF A HAMMER HANDLE. SO I WENT AHEAD AND DID IT. I ALSO LOOKED UP ON THE NET HOW TO USE IT AND THEN TRIED IT OUT ON MY FRIENDS PIT ( KILLER). DONT WORRY HE WAS IN A FIGHT WITH AN OLD SOCCER BALL THAT HE WOULDNT LET GO OF. LATER HE BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF A ROTWIELER MIX THAT WAS TWO TIMES HIS SIZE...LOL. THATS ANOTHER STORY AND I SHOULD LAUGH BUT IT WAS THE OTHER DOG THAT APPROCHED HIM AND GRABED. IT WAS AN EXPERIENCE ILL NEVER FORGET. IT WAS SHARE STAMINA THAT ALOWED HIM TO WIN. BUT ON THE GOOD SIDE OF THAT STORY IT CONVINCED MY BUDDY THAT HE NEEDS A BREAK STICK TOO. BUT ILL TAKE YOUR ADVICE AND GET A FEW MORE AND STASH THEM AROUND THE HOUSE. THANKS AGAIN. ;)

i am going through exactly what you are talking about 14rock. at around 10 months, he just stands off every dog he's near. he gets in that stance and stares off any dog that comes his way. it's hard but i accept that he's just not going to enjoy the company of other dogs anymore at all. great family dog but NOT a dogpark kinda dog. i'm new to the chain life. can you explain to me what that is? what is a humane way of giving a dog a chain life as opposed to a wrong one?

Chains should be at least 6-12feet long heavy duty with permanent lap links and a heavy duty swivel a heavy duty O ring and a axle as a the stake and of course a bull snap. Make sure dog chain can swing in a complete circle with no debris or obsacles blocking his way a good solid weather proof dog house and his drinking water container. Also make sure you get a good heavy duty collar. A good chain life as opposed to a bad one in my opinion depends on how much time care or attention you give your dog. Remember you should always give your dog some free time off of the chain but only while under your supervision to play with him or take him hand walking etc....

Ja-net covered it well ;)

The only thing I need to add is the diffrence between a "good chain life" and a "bad one" is how you utilize the chain. It is better for the dogs to be on a nice, long, secure chain than couped in an easily escapable kennel. If you do the math, a 15 ft. long chain, is going to provide the dog ALOT more room than most kennels will, and at a small fraction of the price. More room, more secure, and alot cheaper...its easy to see why we advocate chains ;)

A chain is not a place to put the dog and forget about them. They will get alot more excersise during the day running the chain, but you still need to get them off the chain for a few hours and interact with them, and work them to keep them happy.

If your just starting the dog out on a chain, use as light of chain as possible to contain the dog, and just play with them on the chain for a few weeks. When they learn playing outside in the sun on a chain, is a hell of alot better than being locked in a kennel waiting for you to come home....walk away and leave them to themselves for a bit. Increase the time you are away slowly, and keep praising them for doing good on the chain. In time, you will put the dog on the chain and he will just have a ball all day long, and will forget your not around...until you walk out/come home and give him his daily interaction and excersise.

The only real disadvantage to a chain is peoples misconceptions about it being cruel. It simply has been ingraind (sp) into peoples minds that chains are cruel compared to a kennel. Its unfortunate, but when people ask why you went that route...explain to them what I told you earlier (more room to run, more secure, and alot cheaper) and most will understand ;)

Best of luck to both of you, hope those pups turn out to be everything your hoping for.

Just 1 fast note, I know that lots of people love these dogs b/c of their disposition with people and to be honest remember 1 thing a Pitbull is bred to fight. Not saying that its okay but that was what they were bred for. People tend to get these dogs always believing that if you raise him rite that they wont fight, and they believe that b/c their dog has shown no dog aggession for 2 yrs of his/her life that it wont ever turn-on. Newsflash if you read on this breed you will learn that some of the greatest pit dogs didnt have an interest in fighting until they were 3 or 4. I know this lady she purchased 2 game bred dogs, once again believing that if she raised them rite they would never fight well she did good for about 6 yrs then 1 day her dog was at the fence and some guy was walking his shepard and he turned an grabbed the female by the face threw the fence, the female begin to holla and scream like anyone would and then she turned on her bulldog instincts when realizing that her crying wasnt going to get her out of it she reached thru the fence and grabbed that dogs leg and begun shaking for all she was worth little to say it took only seconds b4 the sheppard was hollerin and the leg just danglin, well from that day on that female was turned on and needless to say it was only a few weeks b4 her and the littermate brother start gettin it on, well they accidently bred and i purchased a pup and when he was a mere 7 months old and the friendliest thing ever his momma grabbed him 1 day at the park and pierced him just inches from his kidneys almost died. but he made it and from that day on any dog whether 10 or 100lbs he was hell on wheels tryin his hardest to hit anything he saw. Remember whether you like it or not these dogs were and are bred to Fight and if one day an irresponsible owner who believes that his dog will never attack another dog or just go off into a rampage 1 day the owner should be put to sleep not the dog b/c it is your fault. If you want a pretty good tempermant dog that people will mistake for a pitbull go get a staff or an american bulldogg, just stay away from the painter/Johnson/mean machine lines if you get an AB.
