View Full Version : Treating chain spaces with lime
I went and got a few bags of lime and Im going to be putting it in the chain spaces. What is the best way to go about doing this? How long do I need to keep the dogs away from the treated spaces?

According to my husband, the Landscaper - you should water in the Lime and the dogs can go back into the area after it has dried.
The most dangerous part of lime is the application because if it has silica in it and you breathe it in - it could damage your lungs.
if dogs put there qwet nose into straight lime it will eat there nose off ,,,i seen it happen with a cat

You have to get the lime to absorb into the ground - so water it in real good. Set up a sprinkler. And don't let the water pond - make sure it soaks into the ground.

kill parvo? maybe he had a previous outbreak of parvo?
No, not parvo. The reason Im doing it is for urine smell. Lime brings down the acid levels in the dirt. Ive heard it also kills flea eggs and worms.

I know it works with cutting the urine smell, but do not know if it works with the worms.
I get it at the landscape supply store - I think you can get it at home depot or a lowes. I'll ask my husband in the morning.

I wouldnt use it too often as I heard it can cause some sort of CANCER.
I just plan on using it beginning of each Spring.

lime also breaks up the soil and helps with drainage...baking soda also kills the acid in urine and is alot safer.
