IMO let her just be a pup for another 6mos. she might fill out in all the right places. just like kids they grow at diff. rates. I got a 1 yr. bitch that looks ridiculous right now, real comical. Long legs, ears up the sky, etc. ..These dogs don't fully mature til 1 1/2 - 2 yrs.I Have A Rednose With Camelot And Peterson In Her. My Thing Is She Has Huge Thighs For Her Body. Corey,
You could start by walking your puppy 1-2 miles 3-4 times a week right now. In a couple of months increase to 3 miles. I have all of my puppies walking 5 miles 4x weekly by the time they are 1 year old.
Swimming your dog will create muscle mass and lines on a dog you have never seen before. This must be done with extreme caution if you are using a tank and wouldn't recommend u doing it unless u had an experienced handler to help u learn. You can very easily overwork your dog this way or drown him if u leave him. If u can get him to go after a stick in a pond or stream......this is lots of fun for you both.
I personally believe that a female dog is not mature til 2 1/2 years and a male 3 1/2 years.
walking, swimming, and/or any excercise that is fun to her

what about stairs?? we have stairs where we live and our female bolts up and down them... would it be ok to work her out on stairs?

I agree with JMAN on his swimming. My dogs love to swim. But I noted that you said she bolts up and down the stairs. From many years in the clinic I have seen many dogs come in(especially young) that came up lame some way or another. From such silly stuff such as jumping of the couch and landing wrong.Sometimes it was something minor such as sore muscles but lots of times it was more severe.Torn ligaments ,dislocated joints ,and worst some actually having to go through cruciate repair.Repairing the "knees" on the rear legs through surgery. So be careful as to how she covers the stairs.
MAN just let her mature but in the meantime put her on a HEAVY A** CHAIN...this will build her neck up and the chest and as welll the back legs.....let her get FULLY mature and then do some weight pulling DEAD WEIGHT tire(s) or what not...the whole swimming and walking 5 miles a day i wouldnt do that for a "PETBULL" yeah walk her but not so much she is dog tired...she is only a pup...LET HER MATURE then start building her up if you want

The saying goes you are what you eat. First of all before you can even figure out how you want to condition your dog, you need to get your dog's diet together. A crappy diet produces a crappy dog. Thats my saying. It starts with the diet. What are you feeding your dog? How much protein, fat? Things like that. What are you trying to get out of your dog? Is your dog genetically built to be big and bulky or streamline? Different dogs have different builds just like people do. Just check out the forum we have on conditining and also check out the health forum as well for tips on how to feed your dog correctly. Also you can check out my website if you like to see a pic of my pup.

i like to let my dogs pull heavy chains, car tires, and spring pole every once in awhile there always in good condition a couple pounds from pitweight is how i like to keep them you cant ever go wrong with just leash walking and cutting back on food a litle bit if you think she is too fat but make sure she is getting enough food dont starve her

What do you feed your dog? You say you walk her alot. If so, do you adjust her food to the amount of work you are giving her? If her food is ok then just try adding some sprints in there while you walk her. Just buy you a lead thats about 20 or 30 feet and use that for her sprints. Look under conditioning in the forum and give some of the ideas that other people use a try. You never know they may work for you.

if you got a big hill around were you live sprint your dog up and down it you would be surprised how quickly this will build muscle(goin uphill builds the back end, downhill builds the front end)another way I just started doing is I run them behind my snowmobile in the deep snow on the lake by my house.

How can you tell if the dogs too fat.....
2 things:
1. when you run your hands along your dog on each side, you want to easily be able to feel your dogs ribs. you should not have to push in on him/her to feel the ribs
2. when looking at your dog from above (stand over her & look down) you want to see that he/she has an hour glass figure, aka a waistline. if your dog is straight or rounded out like a barrel from shoulders to flanks she's a lil too heavy;). hope this helps!

1st give your dog NuPro (GOLD) with dry or wet food, whatever it perfers
2nd sit back and watch the muscles grow.

http://www.nuprosupplements.com/ingredients.htm (http://www.nuprosupplements.com/ingredients.htm) is this the same stuff you are talking about? Is there any other ingredients in it that are not stated on this site? Its justs that from whats listed on that site I fail to see how it would build muscle any faster than a high quality high protein food. How long have you been using this?1st give your dog NuPro (GOLD) with dry or wet food, whatever it perfers

I would use some high quality protein and creatine and a good muscle building work out plan to get my dogs ripped, buff and hard like chisled granite. Of course it depends on what your conditioning the dogs for?
hey just out of curiousity... what if you gave your dog stacker... what would that do... this just came to my mind... would it make the dog loose wait, or is it like steroids for the dogs (stacker)... iam not really sure, but what will it do...

Actually stacker is actually bad for humans and even worse for dogs you will lose weight though but in a non healthy way. Nothing can take the place of good ol excercises to loose weight and also eating healthy.
hey but isnt stacker like steroids? i thought it will give you that extra energy? if so, what if i gave my dog that and let it run on the mill... (not that iam going to but i just want to know out of curiousity...)
