It minimizes scarring and promotes hair growth when a dog has skin lesions from conditions such as mange.

Excellent stuff.......been around for 45 years. My grandaddy first introduced me to it to treat cuts on his milk cows. He swore by it and so do I. Will heal any cut from the inside out and if a bald man put this on his head I would bet the farm it would grow hair! Craziest thing I have ever seen. Will heal a cut/wound back up to the point that you can't ever see anything! No proud flesh. Truly a must for any kennel.

It also claims to cure red mange on the lid. I know it will heal a hot spot.

I personally don't mind the smell and have used it on myself to help heal cuts. My wife thinks it stinks and we have dogs that will run the other direction when you open the lid:D . Others don't mind you putting it on them. Don't generally won't lick it but if they do it won't kill em.

It's too expensive from nustock.com... and it also makes you buy at least 2 12oz jars minimum. Although they only charge $0.50 for shipping and BarnStocker.com charges $7.51 for shipping (here anyway) you can still save $1.71 by ordering 2 from them instead of directly from the maker.

I posted a link to froogle a couple of posts up... it gives you a wide range of options as to where to buy it from. I'm sure a couple of them are even cheaper than BarnStocker when you consider shipping and base price.

I just ordered me some. China got a nasty over her eye about three days ago. Wish I would have had it then. I guess her and the puppy were playing a little too hard....

I love the stuff. A dog can look like he's been through a wood chipper one day, but 3 months later no one would ever know.

Would it work with really old scaring, that has since scabbed over?

It definitely has the potential to help, but it will not work near as good as it would if it was fresh though. I guess it would all depend on exactly how old and how much it has healed on it's own.
