At the rescue I work at, we are very involved in pit bull welfare. There are a lot of pitties being held unnecesarily in isolation at humane societies, having to go through numerous cages to be fed, kept in kennels in barns with no light etc etc... Its nasty. Anyways, I am looking for articles that show what isolation can do to a dog. We are working with a lawyer, Terry Green, on this pit bull ban and are looking for anything to back us up.
So if anyone has any links they can give to me, that would be awesome!

isolation can do wonders for a dog!Whenever i get a problemed dog due to do lack of training i put that dog on isolation for as long as it takes to reconstruct the mind of the animal.after the dog relizes who is the boss then we can start behavior training.

one thing u might consider,,is your humane standards,,the humane laws that u have there,,proper lighting,,ventelation,,and temperature control are all part of humane care,,if your cruelty laws are vague,,see what is standard treatment for livestock in your area,,and what humane laws u have for them. As far a emotional abuse,,I am not sure that would be convincing enough

Mikelia, please clarify your purpose. Are you against or Pro BSL? Sorry if I sound silly but you used "lawyers" in your post.

K, sorry. I am looking for articles on how isolating a dog would be bad for the dog. We do not isolate the dogs at work, they all live in a house and are loved. The lawyer is fighting to get certain dogs out of other humane societies. These certain dogs are in isolation and are being ill-treated. Some dogs are being neglected of medical care. We are fighting to get the dogs out of there and either go back to their families or come to us for assessment and to be placed into homes.
This is because of Bill-132, the ontario pit bull ban. Pit bulls are being treated very badly in many shelters here in ontario, and so many are being put down.
So, yeah, I am looking for articles that would show that these dogs being kept in isolation, devoid of human contact, sometimes light and unsanitary conditions, are suffering.
Is that clearer?

Thank you.
Here are the articles and links that may be useful for your purpose. A dog is a dog regardless of breed.

These do not relate directly to dogs but are scientific studies made on Isolation and the mind.

Well there is something called "Kennel Rage" I've seen it a couple times when I was younger. It is also common in the UK in the quarantine kennels, where they keep dogs coming into the UK.
