A good old fashioned remedy for pups and dogs w/ worms, and worm preventatives, is oranges, tangerines, anything citrus. The citrus packes a powerful amount of vitamin C which cannot harm a pet, and the high acid in the citrus kills off the worms. We use this year round. Of course it is easy because we live in Florida so citrus trees are abundant. But even if the dog does not like the orange, they usually(upon my exp) will play with it and chew it and suck on it enough to get the acide out to work.
The poor baby is week and fragile? I imagine as soon as he loses the worms, his energy will come back.

I am not an expert, but i waited on a vet's advice to vaccinate a rescue pup and he caught parvo. As for the wormsaffecting the effectiveness of a shot.....never heard of that. If the pup is very weak waiting a couple days might not hurt but i wouldn't let him outside or anywhere other dogs have been that may not have been vaccinated until you have at least 2 or preferrably 3 vaccinations in your pup....personally i would vaccinate in the next day or two when the pup has regained a little strength. Good Luck

I have no idea why the vet told you that. The only reason I could think of is maybe he didn't want to put too much stress on the pup's immune system, but if that were the case, he could've at least done a parvo booster to be followed in 2 wks by a 7in1.

Regardless, the pup needs to be vaccinated within the upcoming week. If not, he stands a very high chance of coming down with something. As for the deworming, do it again 7 days from the first day you did it (if using Strongid T or the like) & again another week later.

Keep us updated on the lil guy. :)

HI SIR OR MAM,
I would get her heath up.Put vegetable oil in her food about 1 tsp.It helps their skin and 1 raw egg a week will make her coat healthy and add a little more protein to help her out.Try Bil-Jac dog food.It is a really good kinda dog food.I get mine at Super K-Mart but its in a freezer because it is a refridgerated dog food. That should put weight on her quick. It is $5 a bag here. But I believe its worth the price.Just my opinion.Let me know how she's doing.Got a pic?

I think that the vet don't want to do deworming and vacination at one day because it's to much for a little puppy. But vacination is very important now, maybe more that deworming. I would wait a couple of days and than give her the vacination. Don't let her around other dogs because she maybe get sick.

Good luck with your puppy.

She's adorable. Good for you adopting her. Build her up slowly and dont overdo it, her tummy may not be able to take it.

the whole storie is true ..here in brazil ther is no spca..there is ibama which is a wild animal and domestic protective agency..the protect animals from poachers and fighting roosters and dogs..anytime a vet out here see`s animal abuse she by law has to contact them..the owner was arrested three adult dog where taken for avaluation..pluss all the pups i paid to deworm including mine..since i paid out of pocket and the lutenant is my brothers friend and mine also..he allowed me to take the puppy home...my problem is the puppy is around forty days old..and she wants to wait for a second deworming prior to giving a first shot..due to the poor health of the pup.they also found two dog carcases in there back yard.

Give it some garlic. It gets rid of worms and is an immune booster. I just crush it in my dogs food or hide it in a piece of cheese. My dogs are healthy and worm-free.
