Hi everybody, i'm new to this site and i have a few questions. I am not a pit owner yet. My friend has a pit but can no longer take care of him, I have offered to take him in and am on a "trial ownership". At first he would growl at me everytime I came over to his house but he warmed up to me. He is really a loving with me at my home. But when I try to take him out to socialize him, he growls at everyone and snaps at other dogs. Because of the media, people dont come near me when i have the dog with me. Is there any way I can socialize the dog without people being so paranoid and are their any extra safety steps i need to take? I really do like this dog and if I dont take him, my friend says he has to take him to the shelter which I think is wrong.
