I am so upset to announce that a few weeks ago we had to have Scrappy put down. He attacked my mother-in-law. I have never seen a dog act this way before. He bit her leg and then came back and bit her arm. My husband was petting him right before he lunged at her. In an instant he went from petting him to kicking him to get him off of his mom. We have no idea why it happened. She gave him some water and let him out of the kennel earlier that morning and she was playing with him earlier that day while I was outside. Then a few hours later, without warning he attacked her! I mean I know this is a one in a million chance that this would happen. And of course with my luck I had to get that one dog that would do this. I mean he was never abused,he was a very loved dog. I am so thankful that it wasn't someone smaller than my mother-in-law because he could have really done some damage. We called animal control to come pick him up after that because no one could get near him. If anyone tried to go by him he would lay down with his tail between his legs and his ears back and growl. Once the animal control officer got near him to take him away he was growling and snarling and trying to break the cable that he was on to attack him. The only thing that I could think to do was call animal control and have him put to sleep. Any pit bull that bites a human is not a good pit bull. We would have put him down ourselves but we live in an area that is very into calling the police on you for animal abuse. You can delete this post if you like or if you find it too controversial for this board. I didn't know if it would be alright to post a "pit bull attack" even though I know that they are few and far between.
Even though he is gone now I miss him terribly. I made a video for him if any of you care to watch it. http://media.putfile.com/Shostingpy-Remembered . If you do watch it let me know what you think.

Scrappy, I'm truly sorry for your loss :( However, you did the right think & were responsinle for your dog, which so many people choose not to be.
He was loved while he was here. You made a heart warming video, it made me cry. This is why we need to close the circle, clean up our mess. Dogs with sub-par temperaments should never be born, because it causes heartbreak like this.
RIP Scrappy

I Am Sorry To Hear For The Loss As Well, But Feel Good Knowing That You Did The Right Thing.
I Dont Know What, But It Sounds Like Something Really Freaked Him Out (esp. Since He Was Acting So Odd Afterwards!)

I thought that something could have freaked him out too. I have no idea why he did it. I was standing there the whole time it happened and I kept replaying it in my head trying to figure out what could have done it and absolutely nothing comes to mind. It was a normal day and the same things that normally happen happened. I've been at a loss to figure it out.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Did you ever consider that perhaps he was ill in some way? Bulldogs don't show pain very well and he could have been ill or in pain.

I too am sorry for your loss. Putting a dog down is never easy, especially one that is so young & seemingly has a full life ahead. But you did do the right thing.....not just for you, but for Scrappy as well. Every dog deserves to be loved & trusted to the fullest & to not be able to do one or the other is not fair for anyone/dog involved.
Your video was beautiful.
I just hope others will look to you as a symbol of repsonsiblity & courage.
Keep your head up. http://www.pitbulltalk.com/images/smiles/itsokay.gif (http://javascript:emoticon(':itsOK:'))

I'm so sorry for your loss. What a horrible situation for you all.
I know the feeling a week ago today i had to have my dog cyrus put down for agression issues. It is a hard thing to do but it is the responsible thing to do in those type of situations. Sorry about you're loss.
