My brother told me about the BARF diet and I was thinking about trying it...so I looked it up on the net and all I found was things saying I shouldnt use it, it could be harmful to my dog or vice versa, It is a very good diet to put my dog on. Does anyone use this diet, if so is it a good one to my dog on?

There is an article about it here on the site... here is a link if you would like to read it: Dr. Billinghurst's BARF Diet (http://www.game-dog.com/forums/article.php?a=4)

Hope it helps :)

I see there are alot of people telling me the good things about it...but I have had vets tell me its not such a good thing. But then again some vets say it is...are there any disadvantages to this diet at all?

I fed this diet for over 1.5 yrs and can't wait to go back to feeding it, the dogs love it, they're appearance is ever better on it, and the amount of waste you will clean up will be cut down.

Vets are trained in their career, and a lot of vet schools are funded by guess who. The pet food manufacturers. So some of the info. might be a little biased. Vets also sell pet food so there is another angle. hope this helps. I also think the BARF diet makes sense.I see there are alot of people telling me the good things about it...but I have had vets tell me its not such a good thing. But then again some vets say it is...are there any disadvantages to this diet at all?

So I should give it a try? If its healthier for her I want to start her on it. My husband works at Tyson Foods so he has access to all kinds of chicken...I want to also know is pork ok to feed her? And is there any meat I shouldnt feed her?

I believe it to be healthier than dog food. not sure if pork has any ill effects. Would check other posts on the forums here. Guaranteed to find info. there.

feed the chicken raw bones and all. if cooked or boiled bones splinter easy and cause the dog to choke.

What exactly is the kind of meat you guy use? and do you boil it at all or what. Im a noob to barf, but have known about it and wanted to give my dog it for awhile. I'd like to know which brand, how much to give everything basically on the feeding.

Right now I give my dogs solid gold.
