Anyone who is having difficulties getting to the site, please list your ISP (Internet Service Provider) here, other than AOL. If you, or if you know anyone who uses AOL, please contact or get them to contact AOL and complain about not being able to get to the site. Please post any responses they may have here as well.

Here is AOL's response to me:

Dear Jen,

I understand from your e-mail that you are having difficulties accessing your "American Pit Bull Terriers forum website" while on the AOL® service.

I have tried to access it on my end using my AOL browser and Internet Explorer and I was not able to access it too.

Web sites may experience heavy traffic or be down for maintenance. Please try accessing the site again using your external browser.

There are various factors that could cause the problem: Web page may be shut down or busy, congested temporary internet files and cookies, incorrect browser settings and pop-up controls are set to block.

Since, there are several possible causes for this, so I have provided a number of solutions. After trying each solution, check to see if it resolved your issue. If it did not, please try the next solution listed. I recommend you save or print a copy of this e-mail for future reference.

A. CLEAR THE WEB BROWSER CACHE AND UNINSTALL THE AOL® ADAPTER
A damaged Web browser cache and/or a damaged AOL Adapter may cause this issue. Windows® networking requires that a network adapter exist for any application that must access the Internet. The AOL® software uses the AOL Adapter to access the Internet.

1. Sign off and close the AOL software.
2. On the end of the Windows taskbar next to the clock, click the AOL icon, then click SYSTEM INFORMATION.

NOTE: If the AOL icon is not displayed, click START, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, select AMERICA ONLINE, then click AOL SYSTEM INFORMATION.

3. Click the UTILITIES tab.
4. Click the CLEAR BROWSER CACHE button until the CURRENT CACHE SIZE reads 0 KB, then click the UNINSTALL AOL ADAPTER or REBUILD AOL ADAPTER button.
5. Click the OK button.
6. Click the CLOSE button.
7. Restart the computer and launch the AOL software again. The AOL Adapter will be rebuilt automatically.

B. REPAIR INTERNET EXPLORER
The AOL software uses Internet Explorer (IE) as its built-in browser. Therefore, if IE is damaged, the software will not display websites. Some versions of IE come with a built in repair tool.

NOTE: There is no Repair IE function for Windows® XP users.

1. Click the START button, select SETTINGS, then click CONTROL PANEL.
2. Double-click the ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS icons.
3. On the list that appears, choose MICROSOFT INTERNET EXPLORER 6.X/5.X AND INTERNET TOOLS by clicking it, then click the ADD/REMOVE or CHANGE/REMOVE button.
4. Choose the REPAIR INTERNET EXPLORER option by clicking it, then click the OK button.
5. Click the YES button. The repair will run, then Windows will prompt you to restart your computer.

C. ENABLE THE WEB BROWSER TO ACCEPT COOKIES
A cookie is a small file sent by a Web site and stored on your computer. They are often used to personalize the Web page with content tailored to your preferences. Some sites require your Web browser to accept cookies so they know who you are and what your preferences are for the site. Most Web browsers accept cookies by default.

Internet Explorer 6.X
1. Click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, then click INTERNET EXPLORER.
2. Click the TOOLS menu, then click INTERNET OPTIONS.
3. Click the PRIVACY tab.
4. Click the ADVANCED button.
5. Click the OVERRIDE AUTOMATIC COOKIE HANDLING box to place a check mark in it, then click the OK button.
6. Click the OK button to close the Internet Properties window.
7. Click the X button in the upper right corner of the Internet Explorer window.

Internet Explorer 5.X
1. Click the START button, select PROGRAMS or ALL PROGRAMS, then click INTERNET EXPLORER.
2. Click the TOOLS menu, then click INTERNET OPTIONS.
3. Click the SECURITY tab.
4. Click the CUSTOM LEVEL button.
5. Scroll down to the COOKIES section, under ALLOW COOKIES THAT ARE STORED ON YOUR COMPUTER and ALLOW PER SESSION COOKIES (NOT STORED), choose the ENABLE option by clicking it, then click the OK button.
6. Click the OK button to close the Internet Properties window.
7. Click the X button in the upper right corner of the Internet Explorer window.

I hope that I have provided you with useful information about your inquiry.

If you need additional assistance, you can chat online with a technical support specialist by going to AOL® Keyword: Live Help (aol://1722:Live%20Help/). My colleagues there are available 24 hours a day to assist you in a secure, one-on-one session.

If you prefer to be assisted via phone, you may call us at our toll-free number: 1-800-827-6364. Calling early in the day usually reduces the waiting time to speak to a consultant.

Lol ameribulldog2003, I was going to tell you to make sure they didn't waste your time with all of that. Tell them that it is a routing problem on their side and they should run a traceroute on it and fix the problem or you will be cancelling your account with them. They're not going to admit to anything and will keep you running around wasting time if you continue to be nice to them. ;x

:( I've been having trouble myself, and as you know ~ AOL!

At first just computer trouble, which seems to be all fixed now yet was still having trouble getting to the site (before I knew) and got the same dang run a round! So, give me a number to call and I'll call, as well as spread the word. ;)

Here is a list of phone numbers I found, but I'm not sure if they are accurate or not.

1-888-265-8001 AOL Product Information
1-888-265-8003 Billing
1-888-265-8004 AOL Screen Name/ Password
1-888-265-8005 Access Numbers for America Online anywhere
1-888-346-3704 Windows Tech Support Queue
1-888-265-8007 Macintosh Tech Support Queue
1-888-265-8008 AOL Cancellation - Cancel AOL
1-888-265-8009 Credit Requests
1-888-265-8310 DOS Tech Support Queue

I would probably suggest calling the cancellation department (since they will usually do almost anything to keep taking your money) and complain about wasting your money at three different computer repair shops thinking that it was your computer. And tell them that nobody on AOL can get to this site but on any other ISP (Internet Service Provider) or by using a proxy, it works just fine. Tell them that the server and its network have been triple checked and that it is a routing problem on their end... tell them to run a traceroute on it and to fix the problem or that you will be cancelling your account with them. Just let them talk you into staying with their services, but be sure to keep control of the conversation or nothing will be done about it.

I was geting tore up because he purty much talking to me like i was stuped. he said that even he couldn't go to it, but i was looking at it when i was talking to him. Also that sence that he couldn't go to it that it wasn't an AOL's problem. He told me to talk to Charter sence that is who i have the inter net with, and purty much cut me off. By the way he said that sence i was not haveing a problem with any other sit that it wasn't AOL's problme.

Do you pay for an account with them? If you do and he spoke to you like that, you should have asked to speak with his supervisor and continued the conversation with them. They aren't going to admit that it is their fault, I think I'm going to talk to a supervisor that used to be a friend of mine and see if I can exploit that for information... something needs to be done, because I don't like for people not to be able to get to the site.

Yep I told them that I would cancel if they didn't fix it. They are working on it now. I gave them 7 days. Believe me it won't kill me to cancel with them.

I almost canceled about 6 months ago and they gave me a deal I could not refuse. I have bellsouth for my main account so they gave me high speed AOL for $7.99 a month because I told them I wasn't paying $29.99 for crappy service that I can get for free through yahoo.

Shon

Lol, you didn't really get a deal... anybody with BOYA AOL can get it for $7.95 per month instead of the $14.95 if they ask to be switched to that plan. It's not publically advertised, but that is a plan that they can switch you to if you either threaten to cancel or ask to be switched over to it.

I emailed the guy I was talking about just a few minutes ago, so hopefully he will be able to find out something. Just keep us informed of what you hear. :)

Alright, well I called and "a report has been filed and is now currently being processed through server technicians".... I was given a case# whatever good that will do, and was told to check that the issue has been resolved within 24 hours or call back and see what is going on, to please give them time to rectify the issue before cancelling. You have to be firm with the people that answer that tech line, and make sure they understand it is not "your computer" problem. He was very insistent on checking my computer and fixing the issues with "my computer". While I was very insistent that it was not my computer, eventually we got somewhere.

I talked to another one last night and he was a lot better about the situation. He also etmited that it was AOL's problem and he put in a work order and he said that give thim 3 day's to fix the problem. If the problem wasn't fixed after that to contact thim again. Maybe they will get something done know.
