Hi guys im new here on the forum and i was informed by a fellow APBT owner that using a protein supplement in small amounts in your dog's food is good for helping them get bigger and stronger. I first off want to know if this is true, and secondly i want to know what i can give him in terms of protein and raw food, because i have also heard that feeding APBT raw food can make them act overly aggressive. My APBT is 8 months old and weight 55 pounds. Thanks for any help you guys can give

First, I'll address the raw issue. What you've heard is a very common myth spoken by some who believe that once a dog tastes blood, then they'll develop blood lust & want to go around attacking people. This is just a myth & a completely stupid one at that. That's like saying if a person likes their steak medium rare then they will develop "blood lust" & become a cannibal & begin attack people. Same theory.

Second, if you're feeding a good/great quality food, then there is NO need for protein supplements. Yes protein is termed the "building blocks" of a cell. However, proten doesn't make a dog get big, thick, & muscular. Genetics & the time YOU physically spend conditioning the dog will help that along. Some people just think that by adding protein then "poof" their dog becomes a muscle bound machine--wrong. Just wishful thinking.
