I'd wait on trying to put the muscle mass on til she develops a little... Spaying I believe can be pretty much at any time, but I know my vet wants the pup before 6 mos. to do the ears. Your best bet would be to contact your vet and ask him/her.

Both dogs look like a healthy weight for what they are....if anything they both are overweight, especially the pup. Of course, theres nothing wrong with a fat little pup, as long as they are cut down to a healthy weight and arent fat little adults. Fat doesnt mean healthy-quite the contrary.
Congratulations on looking into spaying her- I think thats a great choice and am extremely relieved you didnt say you were going to breed them! You can spay at any time...now is perfect.
As for the ears...it depends on the vet. Some will crop later than others, so check with your vet. You usually want them done as soon as possible so they stand up properly when full grown. I couldnt tell you the specifics because I (and most others here) dont like cropped ears and dont do it to our dogs. If you would like, I can show you the poll on the issue if you are even some what undecided.
Muscle mass-you cant. "Mass" is usually "bulk" which is not the nature of the breed. Alot of people believe these should be big bulky mutants-and thats not farther from the truth. A well pro-portioned dog will not be bulky..but rather fit and trim so as to not obstruct their motion (and also keep them healthy!). Feed a quality feed, and let genetics take its course. Thats about all you can do.
Welcome to the board....if you have any questions just ask.

Just poke your nose around in this forum and you'll learn a thing or two. Hopefully you come in with an open mind, because usually what people think is actually incorrect. Take the time to research the matters at hand and don't be afraid to get into a different mind frame. As for the eyes, it all depends. Some will stay, most will change.
El_Mexi is right, you are FLY. lol

Take rocks advise, he's right. You dont need to breed your dogs unless you have a certain goal in mind and a solid genetic gene pool to start with. Just read a little around here and you will probably learn alot.

This is stupid. This girl has got to be what 12 or 13???? If not she is a really immature 18 year old who has NO CLUE what she is talking about. God, how young are people trianing BYBs???? Blue eyes are a no no in this breed. TSK TSK for not knowing that and saying that you may breed her. Please consider getting them spayed and neutered for the sake of the future of this breed.

Ok Juicy, I have read this thread from start to finish and I think I have a handle on who or what type of owner you are, First of all Blue eyes are neat but that it they are not good in this breed of dog. Second of all if you plan on any type of breeding program be it with your father or on your own make sure you read anything you can get your hands on, the last thing you want is a litter full of curs, and I am sure you dont want to labeled a BYB (back yard breeder) Most people who truly want to breed do it for reasons like they want to improve the breed, or they have something that they want to continue, like a trait of some sort. What mex was getting at is if you dont at least game test your pup when she is old enough you shouldnt try and breed her. That part is a very touchy subject so hopefully through all of the reading you plan on doing you will be able to come up with your own opinions. It looks like you are trying to raise a big buff bluff so be ready alot of people are going to jump down your throat on this forum. Good Luck and Good Reading......

Actually, I was looking at the pup itself. Although its still little and growing, This pup already seems to be displaying traits of bow leggedness...elbows might be out and the chest is extremely wide... not good conformation in the front end.. You need to watch her weight as it could lead to more health problems as she gets older

It shouldnt hurt her in the pet department.. and as far as her running ,walking , it wont hurt her either depending on the severity of it.
Was she bred to be short, stocky and wide? If so, then that is not a good canidate for breeding ..
arthiritis as she gets older would be a main concern

excuse me.. but when a pup shows signs of defects, esepcailly at an early age, they dont usually get better.. they get worse. I was not "passing judgement" on the pup temperment or it being a "Great dop" Im simply stating what I see.. that pup looks like it could have came from an english bulldog, american bulldog or ole english bulldog before I would say apbt..
Maybe the pup was on a poor diet early in life.. sometimes these things can be corrected with proper diet and calcium supplements. But it is something to most certainly be aware of. .unless the goal is to breed fat short wide squatty dogs..

I'm for some reason highly doubting that you are going to get that dog spayed. And, btw, I'd put her on vitamin C supplements as soon as you can to try to keep her from getting hip dysplasia. She's almost certainly going to have it when she grows up if you can't keep her weight down. NO running up and down stairs or jumping until she's full grown. It can make things worse. She needs plenty of exercise though.

Oh, and blues have a tendency to have skin problems. Better keep a close eye on her. I wouldn't trade you dogs for the world.

Best thing to do is to get with ppl with your dogs lines who do something with the dogs such as show or pull. Let them check out the dog - what type of experience does your dad have with Pit Bulls?
