My pup Nes as some know was recently spayed and the vet sent her home with some pain pills. Rimadyl... She has been vomiting ever since she came home. Not every second, but only after she drinks water and food hasn't come up until this evening. I read the side effects to rimadyl and found death to be one of them, she is done taking them I threw the rest away and am going to watch her diet. Hopefully she will stop vomiting, if not we will be going to the vet...
If anyone has a bit more knowledge on this Rimadyl meds or just how pets react after being spayed please comment.
Thank you...http://i10.photobucket.com/albums/a141/ashroxballs/Picture004.jpg

Rimadyl is basically a strengthened combination of ibuprofen and aspirin. It's very effective as a lower level anti-inflammatory, but it most definitely isn't right for every dog. Either aspirin or ibuprofen alone has the potential to cause gastric problems in dogs or people, so you can imagine the potential of the two combined. I've used it (for my dogs) with great success over the years, and I will continue to use it. In fact, it's not something I'm ever without. If I have a dog recovering from a broken bone, or an old one with arthritis, Rimadyl is the drug of choice. Negative reactions are rare enough that I don't worry about it, but it sounds like your dog may very well be unable to handle it. You did the right thing by not giving her any more. You may want to have the vet check her out, particularly if you happen to see blood in her stool or vomitus.

Discontinue the Rimadyl. If not taken w/food, then it usually causes stomach upset. She shouldn't need it anyways.

She only took it with food, but like I said I completely stopped it. She will be fine. She hasn't vomitted today and this is the first day with out it.
Thanks again...
