Pit bull and drug bust
<!--Start Left column--->January 27, 2006 - Toledo police made a big drug and pit bull bust Friday night. They say this isn't the first time they've confiscated drugs and dogs from this particular location.
The raid happened on the 1300 block of Foster Avenue in central Toledo. Police tell us officers spotted drug dealing in the street and moved in, when they encountered the dogs.
Police say they found 5 pit bulls and a German Shepard. The Lucas County Dog Warden picked up the pits because Toledo city code considers them vicious dogs and only allows an owner to have one. The animals were kept in doghouses tied to heavy chains inside a fenced in yard. It's the same location 13abc reported on 2 years ago when police and the dog warden rounded up 28 dogs, all believed to be part of a dog fighting ring. Detectives tell us dog fighting can net thousands depending on who's involved. As for tonight's bust, it apparently wasn't the only way the suspects were making money. Further investigation revealed 100 individual bags of marijuana.
Only 13abc was there as police arrested two suspects tonight. They are being charged, for now, with felony drug trafficking.
