This is my newly adopted 3.5 month old pit mix KANE. He is very smart and has learned 3 commands in a week. His house training has produced no accidents inside in 3 days. I know I may never know but what do you think he is mixed with? His coat is very soft and fluffy but still short. It seems he is attched to me already and he loves it when my G/F babies him. I am looking into Basic and advanced obed. training. When is the best time to start? What do you think of him and how big do you think he will be. He has doubled in size in 1 week from 8 lbs to 15 lbs . Here he is

No this post isnt lame. I know I am not one of the "vets" around here, but my opinion is you can start basic obedience around 4-6 months. After he has the basic obedience down pat, start to advance. When I look at his pictures, for some reason I think maybe he has some husky? But that is just an uneducated guess. Its hard to tell how big he might be, even if you know how big his parents were, its still kinda a shot in the dark.

he's adorable,,start obedience at home right now,,most places won't let ya come in for classes until they are old enough for a rabies shot,,usually between 4 and 6 months,,the first thing I do with all puppies,,is when I walk them on a leash,,inside too,,I make them sit everytime I stop. I hate having a dog drag my @ss around.

I think he is very cute! Best of luck with him. As for training, I heard after 13 weeks they have a pretty decent attention span to start teaching them things. Before that, forget it they would rather chase the leaves blowing around, and watch the cars passing by!

It's really hard to say what he is mixed with, as he gets older there will be more clues. He does have a decent set of ears.

Well I dont know what he is mixed with since the only other breed of dogs that I have owned are a shepard, husky mix but that was when I was 5yrs old so I cant remember what he looked like as a puppy. He is cute though, how is his personality.

cute pup, this isn't a site that really supports "mixing" pits. I'm kind of suprised you have had more responses...
Looks kinda like he has some St. Bernard in him to me. But as one poster said previously, time will tell! ;)

We are against breeding mixes, and many other things. However, this is a rescue, he didnt breed it....all that matters now is he loves it to death, neuters it, and is a responsible owner of it. One of the best dogs I ever knew was a APBT mix...and if situations were diffrent I'd still be feeding that cur today :(

Thanks for the support 14rock. I didnt breed nor was I looking for a specific breed of dog. I know nothing about breeding and dont plan to. He is getting nuetered as soon as hes allowed. I came to this site looking for knowledge and information about this breed even if hes not a full pit bull and there is plenty here. I have also researched the other types of breeds I think he may be so I can be educated about my dog to look for possible problem areas. And It wasnt his fault he wasnt a pure breed. When I went to the shelter which I did every week or so for around 3 months; It just seemed we were meant for each other. Hes smart, energetic, and lots of fun. I most likely saved his life and hopefully one day he may do the same for me or my family! Ill update the pics every now and then because it seems he doubles in size every week.lol
And I didnt rescue him he rescued me!!

Its very difficult to determine anything on dogs period....let alone puppies. I'm sure he will get better answers when the dog is a bit older ;)
