I just recently adopted a pit bull mix from a local shelter and he is my first pit bull. I was wondering if any of you could help me figure what he is mixed with . He is very smart and strong for a 3 1/2 month old and I am able to be with him for another couple months everyday due to seasonal lay off. Training is going well and he is a fast learner.

hard to tell what he could be mixed w/now, & you may never know- there are MANY possibilities.
Congrats & thank you for adopting!! Hes a cute little bugger. Good to hear the training is going well, APBT's are very smart dogs (unless they are RedBoy... HAHA j/k guys LOL). Just make sure that you socialize him w/many people, & around other animals - & use precaution. Make sure if you are letting him meet other puppys/dogs they are fully vaccinated.

Unfortunately he came down with kennel cough and he is currently finishing his antibiotics when thats finished he will go in for his vacc. he is very friendly and loves attention. He is at my feet as we speak. Is it ok to take him for a walk in the local park as long as I keep him from other dogs / people untill he is fully vacc.?

No.. do not take him to the park or any other public place until he is full vaccinated. Parvo and other viruses, etc can be contracted even if there are no dogs present Parvo can be picked up and carried by your shoes, not to metion viruses, parasites can live in the ground..

He has finished his meds and will be going to the vet tomorrow for vacc. thank you all for your help and anyone wanna take a shot at what hes mixed with? Looks like maybe G. shepard (slightly black colored near rear and tail area, also he has a furry coat rather than a sleek tight coat ) or maybe Beagle(brown spots around eyes/ ears)

How big might he get , If its possible to tell? Hes approx 3.5 months old and stands about 14 inches at his back , but then again if hes mixed with big breed I guess only time will tell. I just hope im not looking at a 70-90lbs dog because I might have to look for a bigger house/ Pickuptruck lol. He weighed approx 8 lbs a week ago , 2 days after I picked him up. This week he weighs approx 15lbs . Which means hes doubled in size. I wear a size 13 shoe this is him next to my foot

i used to work in adoption kennel..and any pitbull pup that came in was labled pit-mix..even pure bred ones...for some stupid reason they get adopted easier..might be a mix might not.
