first off hello and i hope im on the right site..i picked up my first pitull 2 years ago after takin a quick glance at her blood lines i picked her up. now i am by no means an expert...i really dont know that much about bloodlines at all but what stood out for me was the countiualy mention of "mountian man" out of alabama i belive. has anyone heard of this blood line? is it a good line? what he/she breed for? that kinda thing. the reason i ask is because she is VERY VERY dog aggresive and im trying to break her of it. ive got another pit that i got from the pound and he is as nice as can be to every one/thing dogs dont bother him nothin. just woundering if its my girls breeeding or my training?

Why would you want to break her of it? Thats like telling a bird not to fly! I'm just saying that if you would have done a bit more research you wouldn't be asking these questions right now. I wouldn't recommend trying to "break" her of her "dog aggressiveness" its only natural for her.

I better understand why you need more control of her behavior especially if you are attending weight pull competitions. If your in public with her and DON'T have control of her at least make it seem like you do ( stay calm ). Whatever method you decide to use to calm her down or take "control" of her aggressiveness, I would advice you not to over do it, in other words do break her spirit.

One, you cannot break a dog of dog aggression. You CAN learn to manage it yourself (i.e. with training you can train your dog to walk calmly down the street onleash w/out going berserk over the site of another dog), however dog aggression is usually a genetic trait (but not always).
Every breed has dogs that are dog aggressive, however your terrier breeds & bulldog breeds to be the worst overall. It's just something that comes along with it.
My advice is for you to pick up some good books on the APBT & read up. You just sound new to it all. Second, contact a trainer & sign your dog up for obedience lessons pronto. You do not necessarily need to be in a group class, in fact, you & your dog need some one-on-one sessions first.
My last piece of advice is to stick around. :) You can learn a lot on this site from basic canine care to canine health problems to APBT history (including purpose for this breed) to APBT bloodlines & so forth.

I could not find any result's on those names. You will need to purchase a pedigree when you send in your papers to find out more on the bloodlines.

just a little side note although im new to blood lines and pitbull linage dose not mean im new to my dog..ive done my homeowrk on training when i frist got puppup.. read at leats 10 iffernet books on it. all dealing with apbt's but none of that has changed the fact that my dog all though VERY well mannered with pepole and great on a leash CAN not be allowed to be off leash(even n the back yard) if other dog are around. the only thing that has eve worked( used this when i introduced samson) was to pull her down into submissive and hold her there untill the other dog was done sniffing her. it doesnt matter what size the other dog is weather its male or female. she just goes nutty. she pulled so hard on her leash once she passed out!! if i take things slow she tends to work around it (this took about 2 weeks with samson he still has scars!!) now that being said understand this dog is part of the family she goes every where with us. its not fair to her to be left behide just beacuse she doesnt like other dogs. again any help is greatly appreciated....just a little history on me and my girl :)
well you may get her under control eventually. but it will be long and hard. mauling a kid is way different than dog agressive. what you have is a normal game dog. if you dont like her being agressive i recommend you dont breed as this is a trait that is imbedded in the dogs through generations of breeding. if you would like something less dog agressive try some american staffordshire terriors same builds and many of the same characteristics but less dog agression. if you go to a pit pull many owners will understand her agression as this is what they are known for. do a large amount of research before you breed because so far you have no reason to breed her other than because (from what little i know). there are a lot of helpful articles on here that can help you. also spaying your dog will curb some of the agression and reduce the chances of a human bite.
harmones are a bitch no pun intended

"Never trust a pit bull not to fight"
I'm glad you went into further detail about yourself. :) It makes it easier to help.
You're just finding out why these dogs make great human companions but not great companions to other pets. The majority do NOT like other dogs & do not want to like them. It's just a fact of life. I have less than a handful that I can let interact supervised with other dogs. The rest just go about their merry ways interacting with us humans.

Moxion, try doing a search on this site for agressiveness. This subject has been touched on before and you might get info from those threads from different people who might not reply to this one.
