My girlfriend and I have a 10 month old am staff terrier. He has been a lovable and friendly dog for the last 6 months that we have had him with us. Over the last couple of weeks he has become very protective of anyone coming in the house and spending time with us. He sits on his bed and growls at them. After I spend a few minutes petting him and talking to him he is fine and starts to show affection to who ever the third party is in the house. He spent the whole summer in dog parks and training so I believe he is very well socialized. Is he protecting us? or is he just becoming jealous of the other people in the house?

I guess no one wants to reply to posts unless we are talking about pedigrees and blood lines

Why are you praising (petting) him for doing something you obviously dislike?

No he is just slowly doing what you are allowing…becoming the “alpha” of the house!

Not sure that’s the case more so people have life’s and limited time. If you want answers more quickly look them up yourself, become a “premium member”, etc. No one here is paid to answer post; they do so out of desire, want, and/or kindness! If you can’t help keep this site up and running, why should it help you?
