TODAY!!! got sited by humane society for no water in my dogs water bowl .. now. heres the thing.. it was 2 o clock pm i left to the store for some stuff.. looks like they were at my house and left a letter at 2:10 pm and i got back from the store at around 2:25 pm so i wasnt gone but nearly 25 minutes. and they were stating that my dog didnt have water. so i called a number back and left a msg on an automated answering mahcine at 2:26pm when i got home and got the letter .so i dont know if they actually sited me a ticket or wut. anyways Chief always has water.. no matter what i always put water in his bowl and fresh water at that .. .. so i checked anyways and his bowl was tipped over a lil on the stand i made for him not that high off the ground. but i made this stand so he wouldnt put his paw in it and spill the water. by the way i have chief in a large fenced kennel as well. well there was a lil bit water left in the bowl and the ground was all muddy .. now if the humane society worker had looked and saw that the ground was muddy and there was lil bit of water in his bowl they would of thought oh the dog spilled the water. which dogs always do . i dont know. they left a letter and a discription of my dog and the reason why i was getting this letter. which was because my dog apparently had no water.. thats what it says on the letter NO WATER!! ..
if this is a ticket how can i fight this ??

what do i do ??

Take your dog to the vet immediately for a check up and make sure they make a note of the dog NOT being dehydrated. That's what I would do.

Don't want to get you excited. Just try and do everything that you should for a while so no one has any reason to start trouble for you.

without a doubt someone called on you! someone told them probably more of a story and that was what they could come up with. They do not have the power to issue you a ticket unless one of them was a comissioned officer, which I doubt, I wouldn't worry about it. there is nothing they can do. don't let them hassle you either.

Well, I've never heard of the humane society going door to door!!! :confused:They pretty much go door to door here about once a year or so; primarily to make sure everyone is up to date on their licenses. No kidding. As for the citation, take it to the director of HS and let them know your dog tipped over his water bowl. Be a gentleman about it though, you don't want to get yourself on their shit list.

They do not have the power to issue you a ticket unless one of them was a comissioned officer, which I doubt...What makes you doubt it? Around here they write tickets like they're going out of style. If you don't resolve them, they'll seize your dogs, have you arrested, or both.

Here the humane society has no ticket power, they have to bring the law with them if they want some kind of charges brought up. I also have never seen them go door to door either. If anyone goes door to door for licences its the county animal control not the humane society. I would want to see someones badge with the ticket, in order to issue real tickets you have to be comissioned, deputized by a judge. If it is a ticket, I would certainly fight that.

No-one should be on your property unless they are invited, other then that they need a search warrant.

Damn, I wish things were more like that here. Some of these HS officers have quite a power trip going on. The humane society in my area has authority in two counties. They wear badges and uniforms and can essentially do anything a police officer can do, short of arresting you -for that they have to call in a real cop.

actually they cant just peek over your fence.. they have to have probable cause.. otherwise its invasion of privacy. They cannot just come and snoop ..they have to have had a complaint.. once they get a complaint then they can investigate and do "follow ups"

i agree with rockstar go to their hr dept and let em know Chief tipped the bowl over,but....we've also had some experience with neighors calling on our dog,our neighbors breed minature pinchers or some little noisy ass dogs like that, they're constantly barking and we've never complained, the dude has a cb radio and is on it all the time, the frequency is always coming through on the tv,radio, and the phone we've never made any complaints on them and this has been going on for years. well anyway over thanksgiving me and my brother went to the dog show in weatherford,tx well we're at the show and my brother gets a call that the police are at my moms and the got a complaint that Dapper was barking the cop had allready been there for a while waiting,(for what i dont know) so my brother called one of our freinds to go get Dapper and get until the cop left. i was just glad that the cop didnt go back the and mess with him cause Dapper would have tried to hump him and then all of a sudden we have an aggressive dog wich he is not at all. anyway next time he's outside or i hear dude on cb or those damn dogs are barking ima let him know, it wasnt cool to call the cops.lol, sorry guys just had to vent.

yes indeed they do, it is customary and reasonable for someone to knock on your front door and that is it. If someone was looking over my fence that is the same as looking in my windows. They can't do it!
