As some of you may remember, we had our dogs taken from us by the OSPCA during an incident at our home. I have been trying to do all I can to get them back but the OSPCA has not returned phonecalls and would not tell us what we needed to do to satisfy them. If you believe that the OSPCA is against the pit bull ban, you are greatly mistaken. I have just received a letter from their lawyer informing us that all of our dogs have been killed. I am devastated.
RIP
June Bug 6 yrs
Trey 4 yrs
Knuckles 2 1/4 yrs
Buckshot 2 yrs
Mona and Fiona 18 months
Crossroads 17 months
Crystal and Zena 11 months
Simco and Mountain 8 months
Mattawa 14 weeks
Hannima 12 weeks
and a litter of 12-5 week old pups

They said they were a danger to humans and domestic animals
They also said they had "reason to believe they were fighting dogs
Shame on them, they were quality show dogs, but they took all our paperwork that we had to prove it so. We were left with no evidence to show them different so they killed them all. I will miss you my babies. And you will be always in my heart.

So now....The Battle Begins. We are launching a civil suit against them. We will get satisfaction on this issue. They were so wrong to do what they did, and to not give us a fair chance to save our dogs.
All of our animals were healthy and cared for. They were in above standard houses with clean areas and fresh water. They were well socialized and have NEVER been involved in any incident that would show them to be dangerous.

I used to believe in what the OSPCA stood for. I believe that no animal deserves to be mistreated. I worked at the OSPCA as thier canine rehabilitation supervisor and fought for every dog that came in to be given a fair chance. But my babe's didn't get a chance, because of thier breed.

Damn them. I'm dying inside, I held most of these dogs on the day they were born. I changed Trey from a timid, frightened dog at 8 months, to an dog that would smile and wave his paw at me every time he saw me. How could they do this. Sorry, have to stop...can't see the keyboard anymore...damn them...

I'm sorry to hear you lost your dogs. If I might ask, what brought the OSPCA to your home? Maybe we might be able to learn something from this.

The OSPCA removed our dogs at the request of the police so they could safely execute a search warrant. A (former) friend, who was staying with us till he could find a place that would allow him to keep his dogs, shot a gun over the head of some tresspassers and they called the police. There was nothing wrong with our dogs. 1 had some scarring from a kennel accident but the rest were clean. Only 3 were over 2 years old. We also had a slatmill. They found a pair of used breaking sticks(the ones used to seperate the dogs when the kennel accident happened).

Our (former) friend also had his 14 dogs on our yard as well. Some of his were scarred and his 2 house dogs were attack trained.(IDIOT). We met this guy through a kennel club and he seemed alright. It was one of his dogs that caused the kennel accident. My husband and I were talking about asking him to leave just before this happened.
Now, because of his idiotic behavior, my dog are dead. I have never in my life had such a hate on for someone till now. I hope he rots in jail for a long time.

But the OSPCA would not allow me to identify which dogs belonged to me, and which were his. I would like to know if his dogs were euth'd as well. If they weren't....Oh Boy will the shit fly.

A couple of our dogs were canine aggressive but that is a trait of this breed that we accept. They were always kept apart from each other. But not once has any of our dogs been aggressive to people. I would not keep a dangerous dog. How could they kill a litter of pups that weren't even weaned yet. How dangerous are they? Our dogs were healthy and clean. We had wormed and vaccinated the day before this happened. I'm going to have a hard time controlling myself if I see any of the OSPCA employee's when I'm out and about. And our former friend had best not show his face around me again. I am so angry and hurt, I can't even begin to describe how I feel.

Keswick,Ontario, Canada -- Four people face assault, drug and weapons related charges in connection with a standoff Friday afternoon that shut down Baseline Road for about three hours.

The incident started when area residents searching a wooded area for a lost dog came across a number of marijuana plants and were confronted by two suspects, one of whom punched a searcher in the face.

They fled and were chased by the suspects, then contacted police by cellphone reporting shots had been fired.

Police arrived at the house and arrested one male in his vehicle while another fled into the house.

York police detectives, uniform officers, canine and emergency response units sealed off the area and were joined by the Ontario Provincial Police helicopter.

A woman in the house surrendered to police and the remaining two men gave up without incident after negotiations.

Police found more than 100 plants in the house and outside as well as about 35 pitbull puppies. They were turned over to the OSPCA.

Two Georgina men, aged 24 and 35, a Georgina woman, 30, and a Windsor man, 28, were arrested.

Thanks....
Do not believe the media hype. The area residents were not searching for a lost dog, they were harvesting their plants that were on the property next door. Their dog came on our property and created a ruckus that caused our guest and I to go check the dogs.(One kennel accident a year is enough)
My husband wasn't home, our guest was the only one to chase anyone, I went back to the house to wait for my husband once I knew all the dogs were okay.. The plant and puppy count was way off. We had a few around the dogs. The rest were the ones the "victims" were picking. I'm an epileptic, and my husband grows a few plants every years so I can have meds that don't cause side effect. Big deal. My husband came home to this mess and went out to talk to the police and was arrested on the spot. As soon as I heard the police calling, I left the house and was arrested. The STANDOFF was our guest and his friend not coming out of the house when asked to by the police. If you believe everything you read in the paper, you would NOT own these dogs.

Thanks rocksteady.....It really was a screwed up situation that has caused me much stress and grief. Was it my fault....NO. I don't think a few plants is grounds for killing my dogs. It was the idiot with the guns, which my husband and I knew nothing about, that caused all this grief. And beleive me, my husband has apologized countless times for allowing this idiot to stay at our house. But he wasn't even home!

First and foremost, I am ANGRY at what happened. I cannot believe this sort of thing can still happen. Please go ahead with your suit as a successful case will shake the injust nature of these organizations.

Moreover, I feel the pain and sort of visiualized the events unfolding (vivid imagination). Remember that the enemy is these organizations not a person that committed a 'not so smart' action.

Did you volunteer the paperwork for your dogs? How can they take our property (as it is seen by the law) without specific warrant?

I am sorry your thanksgiving was left with less to be thankful for......

Fight the fight your dogs never had the chance of winning.

"Did you volunteer the paperwork for your dogs? How can they take our property (as it is seen by the law) without specific warrant?"

As both my husband and I were under arrest and incarcerated(for a week) we were not able to supervise the removal of the animals. The OSPCA does not need a warrant to remove an animal from your home if it is deemed to be in distress. The police let them in and they are allowed to take anything that is related to your animals if it is in plain view. Our registration/ownership papers were on the table, our mill was in view through the shed door.

Thats what I would like to know. They took the dogs on the 23rd of Sept, and made thier decision to destroy the dogs on Oct 5th. We talked to them on the 3rd and were not told we had to provide them with anything to get the dogs back. They knew they had NO proof that these were fighting dogs. We were not charged by them for anything. They used the ban to say they were purchased after Aug 28th and so were not eligible to be grandfathered, and gave us no opportunity to get the papers required to prove they were. They gave us 2 days and then stopped returning our calls. We were frantically trying to find a lawyer to handle this for us and they knew we were going the legal route. The handling of the situation was unethical in my opinion. I worked there a year and a half ago. I ran the dog area. After they took our dogs they added conditions to my bail bond that would not allow me to even go to see them without a keep the peace officer. Until my court bull is done, I'm not even allowed to own a dog. But my husband is:) . My dogs were used as an example and it was wrong of them to use a ban to kill my dogs when they say they don't support breed bans. I strongly believe that no animal deserves to be mistreated, thats why I applied for a job there. 3 months after being hired there, I was top dog in the dog area. But that meant nothing to them, they just wanted them dead for some reason. I am so screwed up by this. My husband doesn't believe them, he says he thinks they are lying to us.That our animals are still there. Oh if that were true. I don't even know what to think anymore. I need proof that this was done. But what proof can I get.

Thanks all for your kind words.....I just found out from a friend of ours, who was boarding his pit bull at our house when this happened, that his dog is still alive and he is being given the opportunity to get it back from the OSPCA. Also, my husband talked to the girlfriend of the house guest who caused our problem, and she was told by the OSPCA that some of his dogs are still alive. WTF. I'm happy for the owner of the boarder, but our house guest??? How can some of his still be alive??? His dogs were the aggressive ones. His dogs had scarring. How could they tell who's dogs were who's? It wasn't until our lawyer sent them our list that they knew which dogs were ours.WTF Something is really screwed up with this.

I AM SOOOOOOO SORRY to hear about your loss. I can only imagine the pain you must be going through. I have two pitbulls whom I love dearly and I would loose my mind if anything ever happenned to them. It's hard to fathom that people can be so unjust and hurt innocent animals. I know there is nothing that could ever be said to you to make the loss of your family better, but just know that they're in a better place where they can't be hurt anymore. Good luck in your lawsuit and please, please keep the rest of the community informed on what happens so we can prevent this terrible tradgedy from occuring again. God bless you and may you take comfort in knowing that although you may not be able to touch them, they are always with you in spirit. May you fight that lawsuit with the heart of a pitbull and prevail!
