Hi my name is Shelley. I join this forum in hopes someone from Cleveland County NC would read it or someone might have friends who live in CC or nearby. Over the weekend our 2 babies were stolen out of our backyard. Lexie was our 5 1/2 yr. old female and Hoss was our 2 yr. old male. Both were pets. Lexie has black spots on her skin, and her hair color is white with brindle patches. One patch is around her left eye. Hoss is buckskin and white. Neither dog has scars. We have had them both since they were puppies. The bad thing is we know who stole our dogs, but now we have to find out who he sold them to or gave them too. We reported it to the police, but I don't think they are going to help too much, so I am trying to do everything I can. I want our babies back before something awful happens to them. Please help us if you can. Thank you Shelley

this happened to me about 2 months ago and no I don't think the police will help you,,, i personally think it should be handled off the books if you get my point,,, if you involve the police they will lock down and if you corner him up and give him an option to tell you or-------- then he'll tell you but thats what i had to do,,but make sure he's by his self and you have someone with you and then it,s his word against you and your friend and you did nothing,,,,GET IT,, it,s all in how bad you want them back,,, the police won't help .,, i garentee that,,,watch

Thanks for the info. Basically the only reason we call the police was to have documentation that our dogs were stolen so that when we find them, it want be our word against their word. At the time, we did not know our neighbor was the one who stoled them. From calling friends and telling them what has happen, they have talked to others and that is how we found out that Scott stole our dogs. He had tried selling to several people in the community above our house but they would not buy them b/c they were grown and figured they were stolen. My husband is ready to go and kick his tail, but the only thing is if he presses charges and my husband goes to jail, then he will lose he's job, and we have three children that we have to provide for. So we are in a dang if you do or dang if don't situation. Thanks for replying and I will tell my husband about confronting him with a friend standing beside him.

We will keep a look out for them around our area, we know a lot of people around here that have pits. If you have pictures of them it will help in finding them. Good luck in your search.

it always good to keep pictures of your dog..my brothers dog got stollen..we found the people who stole him..called the police and showed pictures..the lady said she paid 20 dallors for the dog..the cop laughed in her face and took the dog and gave it over to us..we found out they took the dog somewhere and fought him.the police said because he didn't have any significant injuries they couldn't press charges...bs..any special marking on the dog if good for a picture..here in brazil we do a tatoo in the dogs ear..serial number..anyhow hope you get your dog back..if he was stollen out of your yard..bet its a neighbors friend or family..i hate dope fiend neighbors

Thanks for all your responses. We do have pictures of them, if I can figure out how to scan the pictures from our printer to our computer, then I post a picture of them. The police have a picture of the dogs. They were not microchip. Honestly we never thought someone would steal our dogs at night because they are tight bred magnum dogs, and did not like strangers at night. He stole our babies at night while my husband was at work. Thanks rwbkennels for keeping an eye out up your way. We really appreciate your help. We have heard that he was telling people she is pregnant. We don't believe she was pregnant. She always eats more when the weather starts getting cooler. Again Thanks for reading this, and responding to us. We have an ad in the Shelby Star about our dogs. For the newspaper to run the ad for free, I had to put lost. Another ad will go out in the Shelby Shopper next Thursday. Again Thanks for helping us.

Try contacting your local APBT clubs in your state. Try calling the breeders in your area and surrounding area. Provide them with pics, give that guy's name out. Contact your local shelter, wouldn't hurt to take a tour there... never know they might show up there. No one likes a dog thief.

i got 3 of the 4 tha were stolen back,,, and most of the time it will be someone you know or if not ,,,one of the last one that seen them,,, now for as proof you need pics of the dogs, vet records and paperws if you have them even if you find them or you'll have to walk away without them if you find them,, the police want proof that they are yours,, look back in my posts when you click on my name and you can see just what i went through, but if your husband and friend go over or catch him somewhere by his self it's ones word against two and it will never fly in court,,

Your so sure about that....It's not likely that a breeder would have them for the purpose of breeding, atleast not what I consider a good breeder to be. Hell I had the pleasure of returning a cur APBTdog to it's family 2 day's ago and I came across this animal by the by. The more ppl you got looking for a animal the better your odds are. It's called networking, damn everybody knows someone so why not get the word out. Dont discourage ppl from all their opptions....

Regards.

I understand your frustrations, however there are ppl out there that will help look for their dogs or atleast keep a eye out for them. Ya never know that help may recover their dogs.

Just continue to pass the word around, its hard for criminals to keep their mouths shut....they generally always brag about it to SOMEONE. A tip is-if you post flyers, put on the flyer the dog is chronically ill and needs meds immediately or they will die. If this doesnt make the new owner feel bad, not much will, but maybe being found guilty of animal cruelty along with recieving stolen property will pressure someone to drop the dog off. Best of luck !

Update on our babies. We are still searching for them. We found a house on dover st in Bessemer city where the dogs were kept. He has moved them. We have also heard that he made them fight each other, and that Lexie is hurt. We found out that she had a split forehead and her back was busted up. It makes me cry everytime I think about it. We really need to find them, so please help us if you can. We need to get her to the vet, and have her and him treated. I also have heard he his trying to sell them for 100 dollars. If you live in the area and you find them we will be glad to give the person their money back. Again thanks for helping us, and keep praying for our dogs. I have faith in the Lord.

We still have not found our babies. On Thanksgiving day, the cops finally spoke with the witness. After speaking with the witness, they issued 2 warrants for Scott. He was finally arrested last night, between 9 and 10:30. I don't know if they question him about our dogs but I do know that his mom was trying make bond for him. I hope she wasn't able to pay his bond. I wish he would stay in jail forever. Thanks again for asking about our dogs. We are still looking for them, and we are not giving up.

Be the squeaky wheel, go to that police station everyday, there is alot going on in this case from what your saying. See what is going on in this case. So far you have animal cruelty, stolen proptery and dog fighting. The police need to take care of this. If you think that the police are not treating you or your case fairly, contact the justice department

tell the police if he'll surrender the dogs you'll drop the charges and you'll probroly get them back asap<, i don't know about that if you make them mad they won't help you, your primary concern is the dogs so let him know he'll walk if you get not one but both your dogs back ,,,,,,then corner him after you get your hoochs back and beat the living daylights out of him and most cases the police go he had it comeing but if he can't prove ya'll did it then tough for him cause most cases the police bring to court get threw out and thats why their so appt to drag there feet.

Nothing lower than a dog thief. Everytime I hear of this, it really just reinforces that I am not being too paranoid by not letting my dog out of my sight. Good luck. I hope you get our dogs back.

Hey everyone,

I joined this forum back in Nov, in hopes of finding our dogs. Well we still have not found our dogs, but we do go to trial tomorrow. Now I was wondering if anyone can give me any advice, b/c I have never been in a trial before. The DA has pictures of our dogs, and we have witness, who were suponea to testify, but I am nervous. I want to win this case and make sure he goes to jail along time. They are not suppose to reduce the charge to a misdamenor, but my uncle said he saw the papers today, and the chargers were misdem, but I going to make sure the DA corrects it and makes it a felony. The DA did tell me that we have to 2 things to overcome 1 that we are not wasting the jury's time over dogs and 2 prove to them that our dogs were part of the family, and have the jury overcome their fear of american pitbull terriers. So if you have any advice lmk. Thanks Shelley

Thanks for replying and I will tell my husband about confronting him with a friend standing beside him.Usually people like this Scott, who have NO respect for the law or anything else for that matter would never go to the authorities. The guy probably has a rap sheet a mile long and the cops would probably laugh at him thinking " ha, ha, you're getting what you ask for ". This is pure assumption though, but I have enough experience dealing with people like this.

Also, with a good threat or a good beating... it's his word against yours. Just like the dogs being stolen... except you already did call the cops and they have it reported, so it's a gamble. Again, I DOUBT this theiving, dog snatcher would ever call the cops or file a complaint because obviously this is not his way of living life.

I really hope you get your dogs back!

Oh, yeah, put this guy in his place NOW, because if he's your neighbor and he gets away with this, what is he going to steal from you next?

He does have a long rap, 11 pages long in fact. Anyway he has tried everthing he could to get the charges drop, from saying he's insane, to asking for a continuece. I guess he is hoping I will give up, but not. I want to see him in jail for a long time. The only reason this case has not been dropped already is b/c I keep hounding the DA and I showed up at every pausible cause hearing. So now the case will be in the jury's hands.
