Hello everybody, I just joined today, and wanted to ask a question about my dog. I knew to the pitbull terriers, I have always loved how handsome they were.
So I got one, it is a female and she is now 5 and a half *** Edited "months" *** old. She weighs in at 30lbs, and I was wondering if that is a proper weight, and if not is that too small?
She is kind of redish brown with white markings, and has gold to hazel eyes. I read somewhere that those colors match the colby breed, and that they came from Ireland. Again I am new, and I thought you pit bull people could verify this.
At what time during there life to they quit growing?
Thanks for reading my questions, I am glad to find a community who loves these gorgeous, loving dogs as much as I do.

30 lbs is very normal for bitches. Colours could lead u to believe that there MIGHT be a possibility of a dog belonging to a certain bloodline but u just cant be SURE. Yea some did come through Ireland. They quit growin about 2 yrs, some earlier, some later. Good luck with your bitch.

we have had some females as small as 25lb, but that was by accident.... most of our females have come about 35-45... yeah that's a good size for a female. color can be decieving, in my experience there is no way to tell the heritage of a dog by it's color.

dang, my ofrn male is red...that means i cant claim him as redboy anymore!!
haha j/k (aka that was a JOKE)
First and most important, Welcome to the board! You came to the best place on the net to hear the truth about APBT.
Some of the best on my yard are 29-35 lbs. Don't ever judge a dog by its size.
You can't estabish a dogs bloodine from colors. Dogs from all blood lines come in all shapes, colors, and sizes. Your only half-sure thing is to find out the papers from the breeder. People will claim all sorts of popular names to sell dogs. Even papers are many times fake. You have to deal with honest breeders that don't make money off of selling dogs.
In my experience most dogs stop growing their bone structure at anywhere from 9-12 months. They will continue to put on muscle mass as their muscle matures. They will be "grown-up" mentally approx. 18-24 months although some sooner and some later.

Thank everybody so much, and I would love to hear more of you on my post. Thanks for taking the time out of your busy lives and letting me no more about my dog and the breed in general. My most important question was about my dogs weight, I was looking back on my post and I accidently put that she was 5 and a half years old, she is 5 and a half months old..... sorry guys and I was wondering if that is normal weight for a 5 month old dog to be 30lb's sorry for the error...
thanks, mack 10
