Are these safe to leave in a dogs chain spot unsupervised? i know kong balls are not safe but hoping to find a few things I can leave to keep the dogs entertained without risk of severe injury

watch the Bisphenol A (BPA) exposure, less than 0.0147 mg/kg bw/day, since all production of polycarbonate plastics and epoxy resins use BPA. just sayin...

I leave them in the kennels ( the jolly eggs) and they last about 6the weeks or so

Here, the balls last longer than the eggs for some reason.

Why can't you leave Kongs?

I saw in the Old Glory Kennels video she had the black Kongs left on one Chainspot that I saw.

Kongs dont last too long with my dogs. if left on a chain im pretty sure theyd destroy em even quicker out of pure boredom.
not worth the risk if ya ask me

I used to use a bowling ball for my destructive bullmastiff.I filled in the finger holes with some epoxy glue that goes extremely hard.

i wouldnt leave anything in a kennel of chainspot for them especially a jolly ball. my dogs try to kill the hell out of those balls. they try to dig there teeth so hard into it that they end up biting there tongues on it. they usually end up in a bloody mess within 5-10minutes. there are a good couple deep gashes in that ball of theres. i couldnt imagine leaving it there for them too long. theyd bite there tongues off on it., let alone id be worried if they did break it open and try to eat it. too much of a risk there for me. the bowling ball thing sounds too crazy for me to try. i've heard of people doing it before, but id imagine my dogs knocking there teeth out on them.

Word of the wise "I would not leave anything other then feed bowls a water pans in their chain spots" I'm in a battle now with that kong company now! Son left kong toy out in my inbred frisco x mojo males chain spot after cleaning and play only for him to have eaten it and put to sleep a few days later! If u did leave anything cause ur hound my be noisy I would go with some type of hide cow hide raw hide!

What wrong with femer bones? they play for hrs with the big ones. But I love those jolly balls but they are dang sure NOT indestructable. The only thing about leaving there ball in there with them is when it get tossed out where they cant reach it they break there neck all day trying to get them all loud and crazy overheating. but I dont see how it will do anything but drive you crazy with them. lol

My dogs have torn them to shreds so I wouldn't leave them untended with them. I didn't think they could pop them but they did but I never leave toys in the crates.

Bronson loves his but I wouldn't suggest leaving it out there at the chain spot. Triple J has a very good point about it getting out of reach. I was thinking the exact same thing.

Kongs, like small balls like tennisballs, baseballs, etc, are easy for a dog to get crammed down it's throat, and if the dog does end up chewing it apart and eating it, you're looking at potential obstruction.

Maybe I'm underestimating APBTs, but I can't see my 40lb Staff eating up one of these?

They can and have. There is one with a chunk missing out of it at my house now and the bitch is nowhere near 40 lbs

My male (22kg) took of the top ring on a kong like that quite easy. I would not leave something like that unsuperviced with a destructive dog

I've seen a 55-60lb lab puppy rip one of those in half. They aren't as indestructible as Kong Co. would have you believe. I remember the OGK yard video you're referring to, and since he was the only dog with a Kong, I'm going to assume he was just a chilled out dog who wasn't too destructive, and probably a little older too, though I can't be sure because I don't remember which dog it was that had the Kong.

Most strong breeds of dog who are not yet mellowed out, still in their prime and full of piss and vinegar, can destroy a Kong if left to their own devices with it for long.

First, start off with a new ball.
As you can see, though, the early stages of destruction are visible on this ball. Since the destruction is in its early stages, there’s no interest in carrying it outside. Let's call this stage I.

OK, Hopscotch, show ‘em how it’s done!
Stage II includes plug removal.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/Purplesauerous/fbdcffa0.jpg

As you can see, the destruction is quite obvious!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/Purplesauerous/1199e266.jpg

Stage III: Destruction is more than obvious, but the ball is still functional!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/Purplesauerous/00794bcd.jpg

...and Stage IV: Destruction is almost complete. Ball no longer rolls.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/Purplesauerous/ceaad1bc.jpg

Er…..ball no longer rolls….
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/Purplesauerous/fd0843e6.jpg

OK, OK! Dexter says a half a ball is better no balls!!
