Hamilton woman's dog cruelty ban welcomed

The Scottish SPCA has welcomed a woman's lifetime ban from keeping pets after she admitted failing to get the necessary treatment for her dog.
Lesley Ann Ure, 26, of Neilsland Street, Hamilton, pled guilty to the offence at the town's sheriff court.
She was given 100 hours community service and the ban for failing to get treatment for her Staffordshire bull terrier Billy.
Scottish SPCA Insp Gillian **** said they were "delighted" with the result.
"Billy was in a horrendous condition as he had a severe skin complaint which caused him a great deal of pain and suffering," she said.
"Sadly, despite receiving treatment for the condition, Billy's health did not improve and he had to be put to sleep to end his suffering.
"If veterinary treatment had been sought when Billy's skin condition had appeared, the pain and discomfort he suffered could have been avoided."

A Hamilton woman has been banned from keeping animals for life and given 100 hours community service after she neglected her pet dog so badly it had to be put down.
Lesley Ann Ure, 26, from Neilsland Street in Hamilton, pled guilty at the town's Sheriff Court on Tuesday, May 24, to failing to provide necessary veterinary treatment for her nine-month-old Staffordshire bull terrier dog, Billy.
The dog had been suffering from a serious skin complaint which Ure had failed to get treated. It had reached such an extent that the animal had to be put down.
A member of the public contacted animal welfare charity the Scottish SPCA, and following an investigation by an inspector the charity submitted a report to the procurator fiscal.
Scottish SPCA Inspector Gillian **** said: "For cruelty cases, we always seek a lifetime ban so we are delighted with this result. Billy was in a horrendous condition as he had a severe skin complaint which caused him a great deal of pain and suffering.

only wish the woman lived near me...thats the reason i believe its best too cull and not have the worry of how your dogs are being treated or where they will end up down the line.

what is the skin problem it had?A friend of mine breeds jack russel and had the same stuff and after paying over a grand on the pup they still never could fig out the problem was or a way to treat.In the end they did the right thing and put it down.
