St. Louis, MO -- Some Wood River residents say they are living in fear because of so-called vicious dogs.

The owner of two pit bulls and a rottweiler has been cited by police and animal control officers.

Police say they initially cited the owner Sunday night, and they expected to ticket him again Thursday.

Both times, the owner allegedly failed to properly restrain a dog with a leash. Neighbors in the 700 block of Berry say they are afraid of the dogs. They say the pit bulls sometimes run around the quiet neighborhood scaring residents especially children.

The dog's owner, Aaron Dewerss, says he recently got rid of the rottweiler, his most aggressive of the three dogs.

He did keep the two pit bulls, although he says they are friendly and well trained. Dewerss the dogs have been able to escape because of holes in the fence.

He says he has solved the problem with a new dog cage.

Police say they hope the situation is resolved for everyone's safety.

The dog's owner moved into the neighborhood two weeks ago. Since then, police say they have received six calls from neighbors complaining about the dogs.
