wrong
The gashouse dog comes from lines where looks were second against performing.
Game bill born in 1935 was already been bred to fit a certain standard, hence the breed standard of 1936.
What you guys tought the breed and standard were there overnight ?.
It took several years campaining and selective breeding to a certain look so al dogs from particulair breedings were confirm in looks as wel in behaviour, so the dogs could be accepted as a breed by the KC.
This has taken several generations, even then you could not contacted the KC with just a few dogs with commen looks and say it is a breed, it never worked that way.
The race for regonition was the beginning of the end, jmo.
The old irish dogs and some british did the job and it was the irish who kept the working lines better intact then the british.
Al i hear on the web and on forums are psycho/northford, lee/red strain and flynn al from the irish island but hey..
Please name me 1 british SBT line that has passed the test of time, i realy would like to know.
90% of the SBT's are crap, 7 % that do race wil be run over by the APBT and the remaining 3 % pass and those are not from british breeding.
The 1 kc bred CH SBT you guys have there is from belgium breeding as far as i have learnt, also jmo and from he say, she say

We are talking of terriers in a whole here , be it staffs , english , lakeland terriers in a whole & all game dogs , i can see your point in the irish trials that was set up by the IKC but in britain we never had that opertunity to test our dogs as the irish did & with the opertunity the irish had your dog made its name as we have the likes of farmer boys , northford ext but what i was trying to point out is that it all stemned from britian in the first place 17th 18th centurys till it all got banned .:D

Staffordshire bull terrier is KC made up name.. before 1930's, they ware all pit bull terriers, so how can the "Gas house dog" be a staff, when the breed did'nt exist when he was alive...R

Ricky you are right their , as we all know the staff wasnt recognised till the 1930s when you had gentleman jim winning best pup at crufts but before hand we has a mixture of dogs that that came from different areas that the staff was ment to be made up from ie , walsall ,dudley ext

to me the staffordshire bullterrier the american staffodrshire and the american pitbull are all the same breed and when the show people got involed they started to be bred diffrent for a diffrent purpose thats why they changed even the english bull is the same but with maybe more terrier u look and some very old pics of english bull they look like straight pitbulls and to me the american staffordshire is a showbred pitbull and yes the english has bred some of the best earth dogs in the world the jackrussell and the patterdale says it all not forgeting fell lakeland plummer and in the lake district the earths or should i say rock piles are some of the worst frezzing hell holes the terrier has to get the fox we know how to bred our hardy working dogs for sure
