Ok so I come home from the gym today and was messing with the dogs. my husband comes out saying how the neighbors 2 border collies were trying to jump our fence to get into our yard. Now mind you its about 5 foott tall picket fence.I was like oh.Now we just moved Rage my bitch onto what we call the mound.its a very small inclined hill if that.So miss neighbor comes out to have a talk with him.Now mind you I was not home when this was happening. She goes on to tell him how her dogs are just curious about my dogs and that we should have them meet?!! He was like lady your out of your mind.So then after he goes inside she is yelling at me from out her window the same conversation she had with him.I told her she better watch her dogs.

So my question is IF by chance her dogs did jump my fence and Rage did her thing.Whos fault would it be? This neighbor is allways introuble with the dog officer. Her dogs allways getting out and crap.

her dogs jump into your yard, not your fault. you warned her so if she has dead dogs next week its her problem not yours.

they have to contain theres as so do you by law.but best to avoid it.you wont be in trouble for the neibors dogs but it can bring you some trouble just from having pitbulls if the ac start getting in your bussiness.

run a hotwire along the top of the fence and dont worry about it.

well clearly she's a miss "my pooches deserve the best freedom and etc" type of individual for becoming upset simply because she doesn't understand that our breed is not meant to be the neighbors dog's friend. She obviously doesn't understand proper dog containment either if the dog officer already has her under their watch list from past situations where her dogs were running at large and overall seems to already come off as an irresponsible dog owner so yes it would be her fault I would think? I mean you even have a fenced built up and HER dog is jumping over to your yard.

All depends on your local ordinances. While some places would not worry about it because the dog is off of a leash and on your property. Other places it would not matter.

Hard to say each place is different.

Just a thought do you know what your local health department's bite reports are like. The reason why I ask is because I just went through it with my 2 animals. The evil cat finally got caught by one of the dogs (she deserves it she torments the dogs just out of their reach). I had to take her to the E Vet and they report ALL bite cases (even between same house animals). My animals were up to date on Rabies BUT still had to be quarantined (at home). And up to date means vaccinated by a licensed Veterinarian.

So if your county was like this as well. Even though they are on your property and they bit an off leash dog you still have to provide proof of Rabies and your dog may have to still be quarantined.

We have had to euth people's pets and send their heads off to be tested for rabies because they were not up to date at work.

Mike I hope you do not live in Okaloosa County LMAO They do not play.

I am on the line of Okaloosa and Santa Rosa. However where I live AC does not bother anyone really. If I lived in Fort Walton or "city" it may be different.

Yes this area is VERY bulldog friendly.

However to the OP if your dogs hurt one of those dogs (even if they are loose and on your property) do not think that the owner would not call AC/Police. Know your local ordinances and Health department guidlines regarding bites.

run a hotwire along the top of the fence and dont worry about it.That might be a pretty good idea.

Well I live in Massachusetts, which some parts hate pitbulls.Theres been alot of off leash attacks happening around here.So hubby is going out to get some hotwire stuff for the fence and we are going to put that up.We have warned her time after time. Other then that all the dogs are up to date of shots ect.So theres really nothing more that atleast I can see i could do.

Gh no kidding!! omg and the fact that she still didt get it.After i told her my dogs dont like other dogs. She was like well thats ok my(her) dogs like other dogs. Its like wtf dont you understand.

I know some place's in Mass. mandate dog owner licenses, make sure you have them

Dog License and Application | City of Boston (http://www.cityofboston.gov/animalcontrol/regulations/dogapplication.asp)

Boston actually charges $50 for pits or pit mixes

$17 for all other dogs.

this is mass licenses... I am not sure about spay/neuter law may be more expensive if their not... stuff like this doesn't matter till something hit's the fan... they also have a two dog limit. So unless you live in two family house lol

http://www.cityofboston.gov/animalcontrol/pdfs/pitbull_lic.pdf

Come to think of it most counties... require license to own dog

I think it's a state requirement

Massachusetts Consolidated Dog Laws (http://www.animallaw.info/statutes/stusmast136A_175.htm#s137)

Don't want to give them woman any leg to stand on if something does happen. Most counties actually require dog's to be restrained on personal property as well (statue says at all times except during training). So if they do get loose she's completely wrong. Make sure you are compliant.

so many people with so many troubles...

i'd keep my dogs as far away from them as possible

Put up a new fence that [A] no dogs can get over and [B] no neighbors can see over.

What about calling the AC and making a report. If something happens and you have already filled a complaint about your neighbors and how they want to socalize there mutts with your bulldogs then if or when something happens it's not your fault. Every time you have to tell her, report it and write it down so you are not at fault. Take pictures of her dogs running loose and your dogs tied up in your yard. Documentation is key so nothing happens to you or your dogs IF did go to court like AMericanDogMan said.

LMFAO Yardboy...you and my husband think alike!!!

As far as the laws go.they dont have to be s/n.And for licenses, they have those allready.there listed as hound mixes and not bulldogs :p just incase bsl hit here  As for making a higher fence to were she cant see over ect i really cant.I'll take some pictures today of the yard so you can see.

you need to find out what the laws are in your area. Do not allow your dogs to make contact with your niebors dogs. An I am not saying because it is right or wrong. Since you don't know your laws, you don't know if there is a dangerous dog act in your area. If there is...your fault or not, you dogs could be labled as dangerous. Use caution learn your laws. And that goes double for the hotwire....learn the law before you put that up!

It would be the others owners fault , & always remember to put up NO trespassing signs on your fence , having signs ups helps , it did me in one case incase the neighbors try to come inside after thir dogs & they get inbetween them & someone gets bit , put signs up every 10-12 feet around the fence !

I wouldn't call, just get your stuff in order... if something does happen however, be the first one to make the call, make full complaint against woman as it sounds like she's going to make a full complaint against you. Don't look like your hiding anything. Just have a whole file ready copies of shot's pics time's when spoken to woman everything in one spot...especially licenses and if you can get training receipts that will go a long way... Especially if you to sue her later.

But I wouldn't get AC involved unless absolutely necessary.

I live in Ma, and yes it is a state law you have to register your dog.. i guess?!!! way i found out is kinda fucked up but its a whole other story.

i also have a neighbor with a yappy dirty ugly mini poodle thing. she walks the thing off leash and it dont listen to shit. when my girl was real young i would let them play as my girl did not turn on till 1.5 years. ever since she is all like i dont understand why all the sudden your dog hates my dog... you really should try and socialize them again i dont know why you avoid us? now i dont wanna make a bigger deal outa my dog so i just blow it off and say ahh maybe next time. but the reality is i always go outside and make sure her little cunt of a dog is not in my yard off leash before i take my dog out on a leash of course for a walk. i also got a neighbor with one of those cats with huge balls that just loves to torment my dogs. i sware if i ever left my dogs on there chains by them self it would be curtains for that poodle and cat.
