UPPER MARLBORO, Md. -- Leaders in Prince George's County are considering the future of a ban on pit bull dogs.
Several years ago Prince George's County banned residents from owning pit bulls. That was in response to several vicious attacks.
Now, the county is considering repealing the ban.
The law would be replaced with a ban on any dogs that display aggressive behavior.
Those who want to keep the pit bull ban say the breed has extremely powerful jaws, which makes them dangerous.
Others say it's unfair to ban a particular breed.
A task force was put together to study the issue of vicious dogs in the county. The task force recommended changing the ban.
The bill now goes to a committee for consideration.
