I have a question for everyone...I have been thinking this over for a while and finally had the time to post it.
If you could champion your dog out in only one registery, which one and why?
I was thinking the ADBA because it is a little harder (other GREAT dogs and such) as well as there are so many more dogs under that registery that we know are pure. The AADR is ok, and I like to show under them, but I don't like the fact that you can register any dog, even without papers.
Okay, so here we go...a little friendly debating going on!

I wouldn't worry about it too much, personally.
I've never been to any ABPT dog show myself. But I understand it is a great past-time for many folks, they always provide a family-freindly atmosphere, it's a great way for parents to get their kids involved in a form of competition where they can be responsible for keeping the dog in good shape and handling it in the show ring, etc. etc.
If you have a working dog, form follows function, so your stock should do fairly well in a show ring, one would assume.
But I wouldn't base my decision of breeding two dogs together on being a conf. champions alone, or that they get along well with junior and the nieces and nephews, or whoever else and have X amount of ribbons from shows.
Just my $0.02.
Good topic, btw. Responses across the board should be interesting.
If I was to show my dog, I'd probably go the route of the AADR. I've read good things about their get togethers (though sometimes small) and I hear of less favortism among judges, and me personally, I recognize more names for their judges at AADR shows from their on-line fliers more than other clubs I've read about.

I've voted for ADBA, because I've been to a few shows, and I don't remember seeing any hippo dogs at the ADBA shows, but I have seen a few at the ADDR shows. I've never been to a UKC show, but I've seen a lot of hippos who are UKC registered.

I voted ADBA because it IS harder than UKC.

adba its the only one i respect...the others like ukc allows bully dogs ,am.staff. as a working breed...and the others you can find a dog and send in ten bucks and an explanation of what you think the dog is..

If I could only choose one, probably ADBA. But ideally, I like to have a dog that can do more than one.

I agree Bahamutt. I chose ADBA, but I am working on getting my boy champed out in both ADBA and AADR.

Good for you! I don't see why it would take you very long with that good-looking kid. And of course you'll remember to post pics up. ;) Looking at my pup Terra, I think she'd do very well in ADBA, but I want to see her do UKC first, before she learns ADBA ring manners. LOL There really isn't enough AADR around here for us to pursue that seriously. Maybe someday.

Yeah...I want to cross champion, but I am trying for ADBA first and then AADR. Its funny though, I'm going to Kentucky the weekend of the AADR nationals which is pretty much 10 minutes away...for an ADBA show.
