I am in agrrement that the Hip Hop culture has hijacked the breed, but they are not the only ones. However the young lady that showed the chain and referred to it as a tool for dog fighting is as ignorant as they come. Watch out guys, next thing they will be looking for is those chains that train your dog to fight....lol The video seemed to put a positive on the breed, and a negative to ownership.

There are a lot of little white boys runnin around acting like they are hip hop culture too. I find it interesting that you would consider these remarks racist, unless you are saying that because most of the people who were talking were white, and in that case..who is the racist? Oakland is mostly black folks, so naturally if you are talking about Oakland, then the black folks may be part of the story. Your delusional if you think that the HIP HOP culture hasn't propagated the negative image (ie: Ghetto Dawgs, the movie just to name one), and all the rap videos that have the dogs acting aggressively. They aren't saying that it is all hip hops fault, they are saying that this is a problem in Oakland which if we are going to be honest is mostly populated by the HIP HOP culture. They are talking about a local problem, not a national problem. What do you expect them to say if all they see is so called "thugs" coming in all the time wanting to see the pitbulls? Everybody knows that it isn't just one group of people that are destroying the breed. You can't be pissed off because people are treating you like the person you pretend to be or the person you are, and that goes for everybody. Ganstas and thugs can't expect for people to trust them or treat them like choir boys. Don't be so quick to claim people are being racist all the time.

Basically the mentality is, people will think I'm tough if my dog looks tough, or I have been shot or committed a crime, and/or being in a gang. I understand that this may not reflect your ideas of the breed. I understand that Outcast doesn't portray them this way and others don't as well, but they are by far part of the few that don't.

Most of it is commercialized rap. There are tons of underground MCs that actually have something to say. You just don't hear about them because they aren't gonna bend over and do what record labels want them to do. They are the ones that are in their basement making good music. But the teeny bop rap we hear on the radio is the one passing their ideal portrait of a bulldog into the media.

That being said, the roots of hip-hop are to my knowledge, black. Whites & other races didn't start getting involved until the 1980s. But regardless of color, the hip-hop culture is one that primarily protrays pit bulls as vicious monsters & dog fighting as glamourous. You don't see the facing of dogs in country videos or how cool it is to fight dogs sung in rock videos.

And what's wrong w/ facing dogs in videos & referencing dog fighting in songs?? It makes impressionable kids who are young, dumb & full of c.. think that it's the thing to do if you wanna be a "gansta." So the 1st thing those morons do is go out & get a pit bull & fight it in the park. They get caught & then what? More hate for our breed. More BSL.

Or worse yet, they get the dog & then follow PETA's rules for making a "fighting dog." THEN they go out & fight it in the park & get caught, giving the media a headline, our breed a black eye AND more hate & BSL.
