I use some stuff that's even better than red cell called vi-sorbin and lixotinic. They are both great products and work twice as fast as red cell.

why use it on a pup ? its a working dog supplement. it works fine but stop 1 week out from any sporting contest or your dog will run hot.

As stated by someone else be careful not too give too much, strong stuff that. for a puppy give very little, I have used it on a puppy, give too much and it will upset the stomach or the pup wont want to eat the food. Its good to help bring up a weak pup

Shouldn't need an iron source for a healthy pup and if I did i'd give beef liver rather than a supplement. As stated earlier these products are for working dogs

If a pup without a serious health condition is deficient on iron ("anemic"), you seriously need to rethink your feed. Again, I don't advise supplements for puppies or even young dogs. I prefer to allow them to grow naturally on a high quality dry kibble or raw-food diet. Supplements should be reserved for purpose-specific conditioning or recovering from health issues or trauma. If a pup's bloodwork come back as iron-deficient while on a quality kibble, that pup will likely either have intestinal parasites, cancer, pancreatic issues, or maybe even a UTI. If parasites, you probably need to evaluate your dog's living conditions & quarters then worm him immediately. If cancer, as in Lymphoma, you probably need to cull the dog and analyze his pedigree for genetic predisposition to cancers. If a pancreatic issue, then the dog is unable to properly digest the food you're feeding him, as the pancreas produces enzymes that break down food for nutritional value during the digestive process. Again, this would typically be a cull & analyze scenario. If there is nothing WRONG with your pup (ie: excessively weak, lazy, or skinny) you don't need to be wasting money on iron supplements. That's my two cents....

If building blood is the goal, their are much better options out there IMHO

Where's the vitamins and minerals? Hell, all I see are Chlorides and Sulfates! Feed a quality food and let him grow. Keep it simple.

Raw is the best thing you can feed a dog if you feed it properly there is no need for red cell as it's an iron supplement beef liver has plenty of iron so that's simple enough for anyone to understand. Also giving a dog iron supplements when it doesn't need it will do more harm than good.

The stuff stinks, it's blood red and tastes awful. Just my two cents. Dogs hated it.

I never felt the need to supplement my pups food, in the past i gave a good kibble and now the last 2 litters were on raw.
last year for a few months i had them on a red mills but swithed back to raw because i stil like that better for my dogs.

Red cell is good for working a dog hard. Day after day of hard work,3x the work he would do on the average day. Red Cell will replenish the things he burned out his body. But why put this in a puppy because you can't work a puppy because they play not work

I've used it many times, but, have gotten away from it as it can make your dogs run HOT, and short winded. This of course if you are doing something like what I do with my dogs, and that is catching small game and an occasional pig or two. I have found if you use just what seems like the right amount, it is too much and can make them run hot, and become short winded. PS

I prefer val-syrup over the red cell.

Quick question for the people that use the beef liver over the red cell. Do any of you use any supplements when feeding raw?

With any athlete the best results are with the combination of diet, conditioning, training without injury, and repetition. That will beat any supplement. A supplement is exactly that..Your supplementing what they are not getting through diet. Research what natural vegetables you can add to a raw diet. Spinach, Kale, pumpkin, sweet potato etc. Supplements put extreme strain on internal organs, but if used properly can have great benefits. But I don't use them ever. Excessive amounts of water and hydrating is a must. Some people don't even give there dogs enough water because of trying to cut weight. Don't damage a pup, that's crazy, would you send a kid to gym on creatine? Whats that gonna do? Take your time with the first line.. no short cuts

We used it once on a dog in keep back in "03". The dog didn't run hot or short winded. Took him a 1:29 to bring that hog down and he still had plenty in the tank. I can't say I can really tell the difference red blood cell had compared to not using it since conditioning is one of my least favorite things to do ... lol ... but I really didn't notice anything spectacular from using it...

Not even when in a keep?

I don't put my dogs through keeps they are kept lean and are exercised daily. I use hand walking and they run the mill, I have no reason to put my dogs through a keep.

This is what a daily meal for my dogs looks like I give liver and fish 2 times a week and salmon oil is added every day.

My boy in pretty good shape no suppliments just feeding raw and exercise...
